Need new batteries? Going from 12V to 18V or 6V to 12V? Wiring Questions?

Hello,
Picked up an old circa '93 Hedstrom brand tractor. Missing some connectors, and no battery, but I would like to get it running. Absolutely no info online except a parts diagram on sears website. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this? Looking at the diagram it seems it used 2 6V batteries. Its very odd as it has 2 pedals, and 2 gear selector switches. Perhaps the gear selector switches switch from 6v to 12V for high speed/low? Image

Never seen one but all these things are pretty much wired the same.

My un-educated guess would be that the two pedals are meant to be inter-locked. i.e. have to have both of them down to go. Not really necessary. You could use the other as an electric brake pedal. Paint it red.

Ah that makes sense. I may have had it wired fine then, but didn't try both pedals at the same time. 2 separate levers likely rev/fwd and hi/lo. Only seen 3 stage single levers with Rev/Hi/Lo before. I'll post what I find.
