I am having issues with my Sons dodge ram and have isolated it down to this circuit board not working. (See Picture) What is the easiest way to fix this? I have some automotive relays laying around that i thought would do the trick but can't really wrap my head around how to wire it... I would love to know what others have done to fix this or what you guys recommend to me. Thanks in advance!

I bought my kids the same Kid Trax Dodge Ram truck and was having issues with the same circuit board/relay going out on me. But I also upgraded the truck from 12v to 18v and it keep frying the relay. All it is, is a relay (on/off switch) controlled by both the key switch and the foot pedal switch. So to solve my problem what I did was rewired the everything from the batteries to the shiftier then to the peddle and bypassed the relay.

Hi Ronnie, could you describe what it's like when the relay goes out on your dodge ram?

I'm trouble shooting my sons truck currently and have the whole thing apart. I've got sounds, lights, but no acceleration. On occasion the throne wheel, the high speed would kick on for a second. No reverse or low gear.

I tested each motor by jumping them directly with the battery and both seemed fine. So now I'm trying to see if it's a faulty shifter, foot pedal, etc... My kids love these things so I'm trying to get them up and running now that our 200"s of snow might be done with this year. Thanx for any input you can give.

I’m having the same problem I think it’s the circuit board with a relay under the shifter...??

I know this is a year late but maybe some one else needs the info. I was given a "working" kid trax ram dually. turns out when the weld on the steering broke they parked it in the yard to sit in the rain. when they gave it to me i welded the steering back only to find the power wheels would do everything except go. all lights and sounds worked EXCEPT the light bar on the rear of the truck. so i went to trouble shooting. The relay that is everyone suspect is a in a weather tight enclosure. I had 12V coming but the relay would not trip and send power to the wheels and Also the rear light bar. What i found was the small gauge White and Black wire on the plug side of the relay board are wired to the key switch.

When you turn the key the key switch grounds the coil on the relay and energizes the relay to close and sends power to the meter. you should be able to meter around on the board and find 12V on the large red wire but not the Purple. The black is of course ground. to test to see if you have a bad connection on the key switch flip the board over. there are 2 small solder points. Meter the one on the right to the white wire on the plug. once you find the right circuit jumper the White wire to the ground on the battery and push the pedal. if the car goes your key switch is the issue.

Long story short clean and check the key switch inside of the dash. Its a pain in the buttocks to get to so take your time.

i attached all the pictures i took of the work i did on mine. some doesn't apply to you some does. if you have any questions on the schematics i mapped out while trouble shooting let me know ill be happy to help .

Thanks for posting the info and pictures. Unfortunately, I can't download the wiring diagram for a closer view. I'm having similar problems with lights, sounds and power. I identified that the connector for the large red wire under the foot pedal was broken, so I used a yellow female spade connector without insulation (not a flag connector) and attached the wire. The truck ran, but stopped intermittently, likely due to a loose connection. The plastic surrounding the large red wire connector was melting. Additionally, lights and sounds weren't working properly. Next I identified that the small red wire coming from the dash was also loose. I took it all apart again, connected both of the red wires into the spade connector, removed the plastic housing surrounding the connectors under the foot pedal, and re-attached the spade connectors. Now the wires at the shifter are getting hot and the purple one is melting when it is driven.

This is becoming a very frustrating project, but I'm sure it's easily resolved. My limited knowledge has made it worse! Is there a certain size/type of connector I should be using? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
