Variable Throttle Drill Switch Autobrake

So I just replaced the throttle switch in my sons lightning McQueen (6V, bumped to 12V) with a drill switch. The switch is labeled 7.2V to 24V 16A. Although amerage rating is a bit low, but it seems to be working fine. Additionally, didn't realize that the drill switch has autobrake when the throttle is released (just like the way the factory throttle would work), a bonus!

Cool, Just picked up on of these for my son. I want to find a second gearbox for it. A couple of cheap lithium drills would make an excellent power setup for one of these. I guess you could even go brushless if you were willing to buy a couple of brushless drills :D

Yep, these have a load resistor and blocking diode that would handle the braking, wonder if anyone (maybe CJB?) has hooked one up w/current meter to measure current draw thru this at different loads. Wish I had one to try that, for $3. it would be interesting.
