Need new batteries? Going from 12V to 18V or 6V to 12V? Wiring Questions?

I have a few questions if anybody could help answer them please

1) I have a 12V 15Ah battery already but im having trouble sourcing a 6V 15Ah battery.
Would it be ok to use a 6V 12Ah battery instead?

2) The Ford Ranger comes with a remote, would the control board be able to take 18V without getting fried?

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Brock,

I'm new here but been researching for a while, I'm sure someone else will come along soon but if it helps this is what I have so far for the same car:

1) You can't use a different ah battery, they need to be the same. You can use a different voltage as you have tried to source.

2) As far as I know it won't be able to take the voltage, or maybe it will but you are asking to have to buy a new board. To upgrade to 18v and keep the remote, lights etc you will need to wire in some relays as per this post:

I hope this helps you.

Thanks for reply Gerd,

I have managed to find 6V 15Ah battery.

Thanks for the link to other thread.
I wonder could I just replace the relays in my car with 24V ones and would 18V from battery run them?
