Adding R/C to your Powerwheels vehicles? Using R/C parts on your Powerwheels?

So I doubt that this is the right forum to ask, but I'm getting desperate as I need this thing to work by 6pm today, 11/2/18 for a project.
I recently bought this in an attempt to run a 12v rc car with it. The problem is that the receiver does not seem to be receiving a signal from the controller. I've tested the receiver box's pcb as extensively as I can with my multimeter, and the controller is functioning. Let me clarify: I only have a 12v battery, drive motor, and steering motor connected. I don't have anything connected to the pin connector at the top left of the receiver. Can someone please help me?
