I just got a nice used Dodge Dually that I'm turning into an R/C for my son's 1 year Birthday. It will be also a continued project as he grows.

Thanks to a little of everyones posts especially by sanchezcruz_20 and his build viewtopic.php?t=16513 and Haunted Spiders instructable http://www.instructable.com/id/RC-Power ... led-Child/ .. I'll post pics of my progress.

I thought about my son's safety. So I had some aircraft seatbelts laying around. I riveted them on.

Keep in mind a 5 point harness should only be used with a roll bar or structure higher than your child's head. Don't want them strapped in during a rollover and have the weight of the vehicle on their head or neck.

Thank you for that info. It's a 3 point harness. I'm not using the other 2 straps but I'm sure ít would still apply. I'll remove it when he can hold himself in his seat.

I missed the part about him being 1. Yeah, as long as the seat is taller than him he should be fine :)

For the ESC I bought Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro 1/10 Brushless ESC with SMARTSENSE https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003T ... UTF8&psc=1 Just make sure you program it for Brushed with Reverse before you use it or it wont work. Wait for that to come in so you can get the Castle Creations Castle Link USB Programming Adapter for free with the included coupon or the Castle Creations Field Link Portable Programmer for Driving which makes things easier so you wont need a computer. I wish I waited I got impatient and paid full price. :( For the Transmitter I got the FlySky FS-GT3B 2.4GHz 3-Channel Transmitter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FS ... UTF8&psc=1 for the Steering servo I got a Firgelli linear actuator 12v/ 2"stroke/ 200lb force since it was on sale for cheaper than a 35lb. https://www.firgelliauto.com/products/f ... d-actuator and you will need the Linear Actuator Control Board http://www.actuonix.com/LAC_Board_p/lac.htm and the LAC Board Case http://www.actuonix.com/product_p/case.htmunless you plan on making your own case.

I built a small harness adapter with deans connectors and male bullet connectors to connect the motors to the ESC.

Drilled a hole to route wiring behind dash. Then to the LAC board below the dashboard.

Using the stock 12v battery for the Linear actuator. So I used the stock connector to plug it in to the battery.

I decided to use a 5s Lipo battery 18.5v for the motors since I don't have any room for another 12v Led acid Battery it works perfect.

I've got a question for you on the actuator. I have one power wheels up and running with a hobbywing dual motor esc and a L16 firgelli rc actuator for steering, but it is very underpowered. Ive order a LAC board and tried to get a cheap actuator on eBay, but it only has 2 wires. Am I going to have to get the 5 wire actuator with potentiometer from firgelli to be able to use the LAC board? or is there some way that I can wire the 2 wire actuator that i already have into that LAC board?

Ive been in the rc world for a while, but no real experience with these control boards. I have the actuator, but still waiting on the control board to arrive in the mail.

The 2 wire one should work but it wont return to center. The ones with 5 wire is required for the feedback so it the board knows where center is and its end points. My firgelli actuator seems underpowered also but it moves fast enough for me for now I haven't really looked into how to speed it up.

Ok that makes sense. Thanks for the reply. As long as I can use it for a while I'm ok. I can get a better actuator later. Yours seems to be running well. I dont think its underpowered at all, its just slow. The more powerful they are, the slower they are. I think thats why everyone is going for the 35lb actuator cuz its in the sweet spot for speed and power. I order a 170lb actuator from ebay so it should be about the same speed as yours. I'll be driving around a 2 year old so im not too worried about how fast i can move this thing around. good work!
