Have you added running lights? Headlamps? Perhaps some spinners?

Hi there! So glad a forum like this exists.

I just bought my girls two 12V Jeeps from Best Choice Products. I really like them for beginner's models and want to do a little bit of modding.

Although I want to add an additional battery later (parallel for add'l run time), right now I'd like to add a few LED flashers because (1) it'll look cool, turning these into "Police Jeeps", and (2) they'll have greater visibility in the street.

My thought process was that if took a separate lead off the 12V battery, add a switch, and then split that (one for each LED unit), and return to negative, I'd be fine. According to the Amazon page they're rated for 300mA, so together I'm assuming 600mA draw total.

Cars: (Best Choice Products 12V Jeeps)

LEDs: (12v-24v, 300mA)

Any issues with this? I happened across an electrical engineer (and perhaps I didn't explain it well), but they told me it would be a problem because the LEDs would be getting the full amperage pull of the "other" side of the equation, which is the original electronics (which I'm not modifying). I thought this would be considered essentially a separate circuit and would only draw what the LEDs need.

See attached.

I suggest adding a small fuse in there too. Other than that you are correct. Those lights are made to connect to any 12v DC power source (according to the link).
