Having problems with the Little Tikes Cozy Dirt Digger tractor. Actually, problems with two of them since they sent a replacement under warranty and it too has now died. The problem started with speed dropping to barely a crawl. A new battery didn't fix it. Then it stopped working completely. Both of them.

I suspected the foot pedal, took it apart and found wires corroded and broken off. Bad design means it filled with water because no drain hole. I've just spliced in new wire and the tractor now works at low speed, but nothing at all on high speed. Want to avoid replacing every part to fix it. Would appreciate suggestions on trouble shooting.

I've test connected the battery directly to each motor and they both spin. There are several small black boxes in the wiring, which I assume are fuses(?), one wired-in below each switch (power on/off switch, forward/reverse selector, hi/low-speed toggle), one in the wiring from each motor, plus one mounted on the red battery terminal.

Is this a hopeful battle, or should both tikes be tossed in the trash?

- Frustrated.
