I’m trying to put the brute force back together after ordering new parts. I ordered new back wheels and a new rear axle. But like the idiot I am, I threw away the old one. The new one is about 3 inches too short. But it’s the right part number. Even had local dealer order another to verify I didn’t get a bad one. It is on a black brute force x6646. The part number is r8126-4509. Verified correct in parts diagram and through service center. What am I doing wrong? The wheels won’t even go on with wheel drivers off of them. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Attaching parts diagram. New axle is 24” long. Fender to fender is 27”ish. And the wheels stick out a little past fender
