Looks like there aren't many high-voltage options though -- that one is spec'd for 7-17V, which limits future upgrade options. Finding >4s LIPO-capable brushed RC-car ESC seems to be difficult. The Alltrax 48XXX https://alltraxinc.com/sr-series/ family of controllers are fairly robust in their design, some models allow for easy brushless conversion and since they use a standard H-Bridge circuit it can be controlled via multiple methods (0-5v, 0-100k, spst, etc.) They're available in configurations 8v-62v up to 600A which addresses momentary locked rotor issues. They are also configurable for soft start, max voltage out, max current out, etc. The drawback is that they're more expensive than typical controller options.
