Swapping wheels? Adding suspension? Adding traction mods? This is the place for anything between the body and the ground!

I picked up a hurricane the other day for free, everything works on it, but the steering is jacked up.

The steering shaft had elongated the hole so much you could turn lock to lock and it didn't even move the wheels.
I welded a link from some chain onto the steering link to pick up the slack, but the knuckles are Soo loose that the wheels tow out alot and wore holes in the tires within 2 hours of street driving. I'm sure I will need to pull out the big Cross beam and fix the holes/install bushings into there.

So, I'm looking for some thoughts on what others have done, im a auto mechanic, so I can build anything it needs.
I'm thinking of making all metal knuckles and new linkage.

Eventually I'm swapping over to 24v motors, and a real rear axle for my kids.
They do street driving right now, but we are building a off-road track through the woods this weekend.
