Need new motors? Grind a gearbox? Adding teeth to a pinion?

We purchased the Baja Extreme a few weeks ago when we found a really good sale. I searched but didn't find any good threads on this model. The first issue we found was that when my son would turn it to the extreme left or right the wheel would get caught on some plastic that laid on the frame (I cut the plastic off and it seemed to help). The bigger issue was the gears. After about 5 minutes the low & reverse gears stopped working. I got a warranty claim submitted and took it to a service provider who replaced the gears. As soon as we got it home the same thing happened.

Honestly this thing is junk. I'm realizing there's a reason why this thing was so cheap. My son has done the same route a hundred times in his Jeep without issue. Fisher Price told me they'd give me my money back but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to salvage this thing before I reach out to Fisher Price.

Thanks!
